A sampler plug-in for Logic Pro beatmakers
S9 Sampler runs in Logic Pro as an AU instrument on macOS 13.3 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. It adds tools Logic’s Quick Sampler does not list: auto-chop by drum hits or vocal phrases, editing and branching single chops, stem separation for single chops, drum kits from songs, Remix and ten Magic effects. $149 launch price (standard price $199) for a lifetime licence or $19 per month. 7-day free trial.
Does S9 Sampler work in Logic Pro?
Yes. On Mac, S9 Sampler comes as an AU plug-in, the format Logic Pro uses, and as VST3 for other DAWs. It needs macOS 13.3 or later and runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. In Logic it appears under the manufacturer name S9 Audio.
S9 Sampler is in paid beta. Try it in your own Logic projects with the 7-day free trial, and see the release notes for the current version.
What does S9 Sampler add to Logic’s Quick Sampler?
Quick Sampler comes with Logic Pro and, in Apple’s words, lets you record, chop, flip and transform samples into playable instruments, with a Slice mode for vocal chops and drum loops. Logic also includes Stem Splitter. S9 Sampler keeps everything inside one instrument and goes further on single chops.

A Logic Pro beat in five steps
Load S9 Sampler on a Software Instrument track
In Logic Pro, create a Software Instrument track and choose S9 Sampler from the instrument slot’s AU Instruments menu, under S9 Audio.
Drop in a sample
Drag an audio file onto S9 Sampler, or find it in the built-in browser by folder, key, BPM or length.
Chop it
Switch to Slice and run Auto Chop by Drum Hits, Vocal Chops or Transients. Each chop gets its own key, so you can play it from your keyboard or Logic’s Piano Roll.
Follow the project tempo
Open Time and set Match Tempo to DAW, so the sample follows your Logic project tempo. Use Bar Lock to fit it to a number of bars.
Edit, branch and export
Shape single chops, create branches for variations, then export WAV or MIDI and bring it into your Logic arrangement.
Using another DAW?
S9 Sampler works in any DAW that loads AU or VST3 plug-ins: AU and VST3 on Mac, VST3 on Windows 10 or later. One licence covers Mac and Windows, on one computer at a time.
